About the Journal
Proceedings of the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC Proceedings) is an annual peer-reviewed publication featuring selected papers presented at the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC), organised by the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia. This publication provides a scholarly platform for interdisciplinary research that critically engages with music, theatre, dance, and other forms of performing arts in local, regional, and global contexts. It reflects current academic discourse in performance studies, ethnomusicology, ethnochoreology, cultural studies, and education in the arts.
Each volume showcases original research contributions that examine contemporary issues, theoretical frameworks, and artistic practices in the performing arts. The journal welcomes innovative methodologies and diverse viewpoints from scholars, practitioners, and cultural researchers committed to advancing the understanding of performance as a site of cultural expression, heritage, and transformation.
Published by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), the journal aims to foster intellectual exchange and contribute to the sustainability and visibility of performing arts scholarship in the region and beyond.
