Data Availability and Research Transparency Policy

The Proceedings of the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC Proceedings) supports transparency, accountability, and reproducibility in scholarly publishing. Authors are encouraged to make available all supporting materials that enhance the integrity and understanding of their published work.

1. Types of Supporting Materials

Authors may provide, where appropriate:

  • Research datasets (numerical, qualitative, or experimental data).

  • Audio-visual materials (e.g., recordings of performances, interviews, fieldwork documentation).

  • Choreographic notations, scores, or rehearsal documentation.

  • Supplementary figures, tables, or methodological appendices.

2. Accessibility and Sharing

  • Supporting data should be deposited in a recognised repository (institutional, subject-specific, or generalist) wherever possible.

  • When deposited, datasets should be assigned a DOI or other persistent identifier to ensure traceability.

  • Where sharing is not possible due to privacy, copyright, cultural sensitivity, or ethical considerations, authors must provide a clear statement explaining the restrictions.

3. Citation of Data

  • All datasets and supplementary materials must be properly cited in the references of the article, following a recognised citation format that includes author(s), year, title, repository, and DOI (if available).

  • Example: Author(s). (Year). Dataset title. Repository. DOI.

4. Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must ensure that sharing data does not breach participant confidentiality, intellectual property rights, or community cultural protocols.

  • In cases where cultural materials (e.g., traditional performances, oral histories) are involved, authors are expected to respect community consent and indicate any restrictions on reuse.

5. Editorial Oversight

  • While data sharing is strongly encouraged, it is not mandatory for publication.

  • The Editorial Board reserves the right to request access to underlying data during the review process to verify the validity of claims.
