Indexing and Abstracting

The Proceedings of the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC Proceedings) is committed to maximising the visibility, discoverability, and long-term preservation of its published content.

1. Indexing

  • IMPAC Proceedings is currently indexed in Google Scholar, Crossref and Index Copernicus Journals Master List (ICI), with all articles assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure permanent discoverability and citation tracking.

  • An application to the Asian Science Citation Index (ASCI) is currently in progress, and the proceedings is actively working towards inclusion in Scopus (Elsevier) and the Conference Proceedings Citation Index (Clarivate, Web of Science).

  • The proceedings will also pursue additional indexing in subject-specific and regional databases to strengthen accessibility and global impact.

2. Visibility and Provider Timeframes

  • IMPAC Proceedings provides indexing services with access to all published volumes immediately upon release.

  • However, the timeframe for when a specific proceedings volume becomes visible in an indexing database is determined by the database provider. IMPAC Proceedings has no influence over this process.

  • For example, Clarivate (Web of Science) has indicated that there may be backlogs in indexing conference proceedings, and their selection criteria and evaluation process are outlined on their website.

3. Digital Archiving

  • IMPAC Proceedings ensures digital preservation of all published articles through the publisher’s institutional repository at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).

  • Content is stored in PDF format with DOI metadata for long-term accessibility.

  • The publisher is committed to implementing recognised preservation systems such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) to guarantee permanent access.

  • Metadata is regularly maintained to ensure discoverability through indexing services and library systems.

4. Preservation of the Scholarly Record

  • All published content is part of the permanent scholarly record.

  • In cases of correction, retraction, or withdrawal, the original metadata and DOI are preserved, and notices are issued to maintain transparency and traceability.

5. Community Recommendations

IMPAC Proceedings welcomes suggestions from the research and performing arts communities regarding additional databases or indexing services that could enhance the visibility of published work. Requests may be sent to impacproceedings@upsi.edu.my.
