Author Guidelines

Authors submitting to the Proceedings of the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC Proceedings) are required to prepare manuscripts in accordance with the following guidelines. Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be returned for revision prior to review.

1. Manuscript Preparation

  • Length: Manuscripts should be between 3,000 and 5,000 words, including references, tables, and figures. Longer papers may be considered at the discretion of the Editorial Board.

  • Structure: Manuscripts should normally include the following sections:

    • Title

    • Author(s) and affiliation(s)

    • Abstract and keywords

    • Introduction

    • Methodology / Approach

    • Findings / Discussion

    • Conclusion

    • References (APA 7th edition)

  • Referencing Style: All citations and references must follow the APA 7th edition guidelines. Authors are responsible for ensuring accuracy and consistency.

2. File Format

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.

  • A PDF version may also be uploaded to preserve formatting, but the Word file is required for editorial processing.

  • Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, double spacing, and standard A4 page size with 2.5 cm margins.

3. Abstract and Keywords

  • Each manuscript must include an abstract of 150–250 words summarising the purpose, method, findings, and conclusion.

  • Provide 3–5 keywords that accurately reflect the content of the article. Keywords should be specific and aid in indexing and discoverability.

4. Tables, Figures, and Audio-Visual Materials

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and include clear titles and captions. They should be placed within the text, close to their first mention.

  • Authors must ensure figures are of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and suitable for reproduction.

  • Audio-visual materials (e.g., recordings, images, video links) are encouraged when relevant to the article. Authors must secure copyright permissions and provide appropriate credits. Supplementary materials may be hosted in an institutional or public repository, with links provided in the manuscript.

5. Language

  • Manuscripts must be written in English using clear, scholarly language. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek professional editing prior to submission.

  • Manuscripts written in Bahasa Melayu are accepted, provided that the title, abstract, and keywords are also supplied in English to ensure international accessibility and indexing.
