Copyright and Licensing Policy

The Proceedings of the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC Proceedings) is committed to protecting the rights of authors while ensuring the widest possible dissemination of scholarly work. This policy aligns with international publishing standards and the requirements of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and Scopus.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright of their work published in IMPAC Proceedings.

Upon acceptance, authors grant IMPAC Proceedings and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) a non-exclusive licence to publish, distribute, and archive the work in both print and electronic formats.

This licence allows the publisher to make the work available through indexing services, repositories, and digital platforms for long-term preservation and visibility.

2. Licensing Terms

All articles in IMPAC Proceedings are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise stated.
This licence permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the work in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Users are free to:
Share – copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
Adapt – remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use.

Proper attribution to the author(s) and to IMPAC Proceedings is required in all cases.

3. Author Rights

Authors are entitled to:
✔ Deposit the published version (Version of Record) in institutional or subject repositories.
✔ Share the published article through personal websites, academic networks, or teaching platforms.
✔ Reuse the published article in future works (e.g., books, lectures, compilations), provided proper citation is given.

All metadata associated with published articles are deposited with Crossref and released under the CC0 licence to maximise discoverability and interoperability across indexing databases.

4. Third-Party Material

Authors must ensure that any material (figures, images, tables, or audio-visual content) reproduced from other sources has the necessary permissions and licences for reuse. Proper acknowledgement of the original source must be included in the manuscript.

5. Publisher Responsibilities

IMPAC Proceedings ensures permanent accessibility of published content through DOI registration (Crossref) and long-term archiving.

The publisher guarantees that published articles will not be altered or removed, except under the Post Publication Policy (corrections, retractions, or withdrawals).

The publisher is committed to transparency, copyright clarity, and ethical publishing practices, in full compliance with COPE and DOAJ standards.
