About the Journal
The Proceedings of the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC Proceedings) is an annual peer-reviewed open-access publication featuring selected papers presented at the International Music and Performing Arts Conference (IMPAC), organised by the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia.
The proceedings provide a scholarly platform for interdisciplinary research that critically engages with music, theatre, dance, and other performing arts within local, regional, and global contexts. It reflects current academic discourse in performance studies, ethnomusicology, ethnochoreology, cultural studies, and arts education.
Each volume showcases original research contributions that examine contemporary issues, theoretical frameworks, and artistic practices in the performing arts. The proceedings welcome innovative methodologies and diverse perspectives from scholars, practitioners, and cultural researchers committed to advancing the understanding of performance as a site of cultural expression, heritage, and transformation.
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic integrity and quality. The IMPAC Proceedings follows a gold open access policy, allowing immediate free access to all published content.
Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref, ensuring persistent online accessibility, accurate citation tracking, and metadata integration with global indexing platforms. Metadata for all published papers are deposited with Crossref and synchronised with indexing databases for discoverability and long-term archiving.
Published annually by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), the IMPAC Proceedings aims to foster intellectual exchange and contribute to the sustainability, visibility, and global dissemination of performing arts scholarship.

This conference was organized by the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.
*This volume primarily features papers presented at IMPAC 2025. A small number of papers from IMPAC 2024, which required extended review and revisions, are also included.
