Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membahaskan keunikan Begendang melalui fungsi dan peranannya dalam majlis keramaian, serta menganalisis struktur persembahannya yang melibatkan seh gendang, pemain biola, dan penandak. Pendekatan kualitatif melalui temu bual, pemerhatian langsung, dan analisis sumber sekunder. Keunikan persembahan ini terletak pada kombinasi dinamik antara alat muzik seperti gendang dan biola, serta keupayaan bermain gendang seh gendang sambil berpantun manakala penandak menari sambil menjawab pantun semasa persembahan. Hasil kajian ini dijangka memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang kepentingan Begendang Sarawak dalam budaya masyarakat Melayu. Menyumbang kepada usaha pemeliharaan dan promosi warisan budaya ini, serta meningkatkan kesedaran generasi muda tentang nilai dan keindahan warisan budaya mereka.
This study aims to debate the uniqueness of Begendang through its function and role in public events, as well as to analyze the structure of its performance involving seh gendang, violinists, and markers. Qualitative approach through interviews, direct observation, and analysis of secondary sources. The uniqueness of this performance lies in the dynamic combination of musical instruments such as drums and violins, as well as the ability to play the drum seh gendang while chanting while the dancers dancing while answering the rhymes during the performance. The results of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the importance of Begendang Sarawak in the culture of the Malay community. Contribute to the preservation and promotion of this cultural heritage, as well as increase the awareness of the younger generation on the value and beauty of their cultural heritage.
